These Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I have ever had. Not only are they really moist and simmer for days, they are unmistakably banana-y.

Banana may be one of those flavors that could get lost when you bake with this. It can be really delicate flavor. It always bums me out once that occurs, cause I really like the taste of banana. And thus does the hubs.

When great flavored banana treats come along, we move a little mad for them.

These biscuits make the listing of banana things to go crazy for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moistthey nearly melt in your mouth. In addition, with both oats and banana inside them, they are basically healthy, right? And perfect for breakfast!

Creating them is equally as simple as eating them.

You have the usual suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You begin with mixing all those lovely components together.

I have to warn you. The smell of the mixture -- using the banana -- is intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen making the dough together with me (we made a bargain that contained him carbonated with me) and we had to work hard not to place our faces, or even a straw, straight in to it.

Then you add all of the ingredients (which means you only use one bowl -- yay!) And combine it all together!

To bake them, spoon out about a tablespoon of bread and create a thick disc, as opposed to a chunk. They spread a bit when baking, and thus don't place them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes to get a fine, moist cookie. So yummy!

One additional thing I really like about this recipe is where it came from.

My grandma (my father's mom) passed out in 2008. Once I started draining a lot a couple of years ago, my uncle gave me her cookbook he'd had and didn't use. I have had it in my list to create numerous her desserts since.

My father and I left her gaufrettes (a French cookie -- my grandparents were French) a year or so past. It was a convention for my grandma to make them every Christmas! She gave everyone a large tin of these, which was quite a feat with 6 sons.

I now know just how much of an effort it was! My goodness. She made them with a conventional gaufrette iron which goes over an open fire. My dad and I had them on the stove. They cook very fast and you need to be exact. Too long and they sort of disintegrated into iron. Overly long and they burned into the iron and we all had to wash it out.

My dad was massaging the batter and removing the biscuits, I was working the ironthe hubs was timing things. It took quite a few tries to get it , but they had been so good! I have attempted to make them on my own and it works. I'd like to share the recipe, but the dang irons are so hard to find. And expensive. At some point, I'd like to just earn a cookie with the identical gaufrette flavor.

For today though, I am sharing these biscuits. I really don't believe I had them made thembut they are from her book.

It's such a fun recipe book to check through, also. There are many handwritten pages, clippings and newspaper recipes that were taped to the book. I really like the way that they used to compose recipes in the newspaper -- they had the person who filed it's name and adorable little stories. It is so fun to browse through them! What a different time in the world!

Anyways, I do not really know where this recipe originated out. The paper appears like it had been on a flier out of their square dancing class or something (they were big into square dance ). It is undoubtedly from West Virginia, in which they dwelt.



Either way, I am so glad to finally share a recipe from her book with you! I made a few adjustments to make them thicker and more puffier and they are delicious. There will be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now like the banana.

INGREDIENTS:



1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract





1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp best site baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch



DIRECTIONS:

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
